Beautiful Creating a Pond

Most gardens, however small, are improved with the addition of a pond. Including water in your garden will encourage beneficial wildlife, and will create a wonderful backdrop to summer entertaining. At Garden4less, we stock the full range of Hozelock pumps and pond equipment which will ensure your pool stays healthy and crystal clear. Our guide will enable you to build a simple water feature from scratch with the minimum of effort and expense.

Safety and situation
It is important to consider the layout and general feel of your garden when deciding to add water. Geometric shaped ponds look best gardens which have straight-edged landscaping, whereas an irregular shaped pool will suit an informal scheme. If your garden combines both a wilderness and some formal areas, try a circular pool which will suit almost any situation. It is advisable to site your water feature in a sunny part of the garden this ensures that aquatic plants will receive the light they need in order to thrive. Wherever you choose to build, the appearance of the pond will be greatly improved if you attempt to blend it into the environment with clever planting.

It goes without saying that children should always be supervised around water. In fact, it is inadvisable to add a pool to your garden if you have family members younger than four. Instead, try one of our stunning solar water features, such as the slate fountain, which will provide the relaxing sound of water without the danger. The lions head design will look superb when used in a formal garden, or try our sunjet fountain perfect for including in a water feature of your own design.

Getting started
Once you have decided where and what type of pond to build, begin by marking out your chosen area boundaries with a length of hosepipe or a line of sand, so you know where to dig.
1.Dig out your chosen shape to the required depth and check that it is level it is worth taking a time over this, as the pond will look better if the water comes exactly to the top of the liner all the way round.
2.Remove sharp stones (which might pierce the liner) from the bed of the pond before adding a pond underlay which is rot and root resistant. You can use heavy sand, but since it is penetrable by rocks and organic matter, underlay is a better long-term solution.
3.Now lay your liner into the hole, over the underlay. Work round the pond folding and tucking to achieve a neat finish; then add water.
4.When full, cut off excess liner with a sharp knife. Be sure to leave at least fifteen centimetres excess around the edge of the pond this can then be covered with soil and planted or disguised with attractive rocks.
1.To create varied habitats within your pond, create gently sloping shallows. Deep water is fine, but a number of different depths will attract a wider range of creatures.

Planting
A well-planted pond will blend into its environment. Once you have added aquatic and marginal plants, consider which varieties will help the outer area blend into your garden. For an informal pond, sow Lychnis flos-cuculi Ragged Robin. This attractive wild flower thrives in damp, pond-side conditions. Hesperis matronalis is another good choice which can be grown in full sun or part-shade. This wild flower has spikes of purple and lilac flowers which are loved by butterflies. This variety also boasts a delicious sweet and spicy scent which will fill the evening air with perfume. As well as naturalising your pond, surrounding it with wild flowers and tall plants also provides hiding places for frogs, toads and newts all of which will help to control pests in your garden. If you are aiming to create a wildlife haven, it may be best to avoid goldfish since they can dirty the water too much for other creatures. There will, however, be plenty to admire in the animals that automatically flock to your pool. Expect to see water boatmen, aquatic snails, whirligig beetles and dragonflies as well as frogs and toads.

Introducing animal life
Although fish may not be an ideal choice for wildlife, they will add a splash of vibrant orange to your formal, or semi-formal pond. If you have plenty of space, the classic Koi carp are arguably the most stunning species with which to stock your pool. For smaller amounts of water, Shubunkins and Golden Orfe will provide a beautiful display but always check how large your fish will grow to avoid overpopulation.
When keeping fish, good pond maintenance is essential. We stock a huge range of Hozelock filters (link) which will keep your water clear and your fish healthy. A combined pump and filter (link) will provide constant movement to avoid your water becoming stagnant. If your pond develops excessive algae, the Hozelock UV filter (link) represents a sophisticated solution and excellent value for money. Remove excessive amounts of weed by hand, and remember to feed your fish (link to fish food) and you will be enjoying your pond (and its inhabitants!) for years to come.

Unique a Fun Creative Window Decoration

It's the season for you to put up a window decoration for the holidays. You could do it for one or all of the windows in your whole house and you can use it for whatever reason you feel like. You can use it to annoy your neighbors because you have better decorations then they do or you can use it as a showing for all the people that drive up and down the streets looking at lights.

Depending on how big your house is, it may take you a while to get up all the decorations. Most people do it early on, so they can be the first ones with their window decorations up. Especially if you have a big house, you're usually running around trying to put everything together and up for everyone to see in time for the holidays.

Most people would not spend so much time and effort getting things together as you would. It's not because they're not interested in the holidays, but it's the fact that they do not have the time to do everything it takes to make their house as decorative as possible. Unlike you where you may be the kind of family that would make time to celebrate the holidays your way.

Your reason for doing this might be different than any other person's reason because you may be doing it on the account of that you would just want to show off your decorations for the people that may be driving up and down your street at night to look at all the pretty lights. You also could be doing it because you want your house to look better than anyone else's.

While you're doing it that way, many other people may do it because it is a family tradition. These people may be doing it because they have been doing it ever since their kids were little and has become a family tradition ever since. They may not even care what people think and sometimes that may be the best way to look at it.

You would not want to get your feelings hurt if someone comes up to your door saying they hate your decorations. At a time like that, you may be thinking you're doing it for the wrong reasons. You may just need someone like that to come up to your door and say that to your face before you begin to realize that.

They may even be making it up because every year you may do the same thing and every year each family in your neighborhood may be aggravated with you for treating the holidays as if it were some type of competition.

During the holiday season it's the time to be with family and friends, and it would not be the time of year to see who has the best window decoration. At that point, you're just turning every ones tradition into a competition and that may not be what most people are looking for in their neighbors.

Lovely Portable Fire Pits ? Great for Extending Your Enjoyment of the Outdoors

Portable fire pits are ideal for camping, the beach tailgating along with other outdoor activities that does not only need the warmth that a portable fire pit offers, but also the atmosphere. Quite simply, why don’t you use your portable fire pit in your patio? It’s great for a cool evening with the family roasting marshmallows or making s’mores. Light it up when you have friends around, it creates an excellent social atmosphere with the warm glow, the crackling and popping from the wood and enables you to enjoy the outdoors just a little longer.

Fire pits are available in many shapes and sizes. Some with wheels, others with grates to grill on and even spark screens to safeguard against sparks and hot ash. When choosing a fire pit, make sure that you take all of this into account and don’t regret lacking an element you didn’t take into account whenever you purchased your fire pit.

Should you be looking specifically for a transportable fire pit, make sure you take into consideration the load. If it’s too heavy that you should lift, i quickly guess it’s not too portable in the end. Another thing to think about is that if it’s wheels, this can make it very easy to move and maneuver around even when the fire may be lit. Obviously be mindful when moving a lit fire pit and it’s probably better to have a spark screen to choose it.

There are several portable fire pits that really fold pretty flat and are available having a carrying bag that is very handy. The only real drawback is that you simply can’t really place it within the bag if it’s still warm. If you can to get rid of the burnt wood and ash, they typically cool off pretty quickly.

Your fire bowl can last for a long time if well looked after and maintained. Something to consider doing when you initially make use of fire pit would be to temper it before having really big fire onto it. It’s pretty straight forward to do, simply begin by lighting smaller fires at first and slowly boost the length of time you let them burn. After that you can gradually move to building larger fires and have no problems from then on.

Landmann USA is a premier manufacture of portable fire pits. You can visit their webiste at http://www.landmann-usa.com. They also have a great selection of Firewood Storage Racks.

Elegant Greenhouse Gardening in the Fall

As the days get shorter and weather becomes cooler, gardeners are aware that their summer pastime will soon be coming to an end. For gardeners with tropical or exotic plants outdoors that they don't want to lose to an early fall frost, transporting plants into a greenhouse is a good alternative. Greenhouses come in a variety of sizes and styles to accommodate almost any gardener's needs. In this article, we'll explore a few of the common types of greenhouse that might work for you.

Portable or temporary use greenhouse structures work well for the homeowner who is not ready to commit to a permanent structure. Most temporary use greenhouses are designed with a polyethylene vinyl cover that fits over a steel or aluminum frame. Depending on the size and shape of the structure, it will probably be necessary to do some kind of staking or anchoring to the ground so that it doesn't blow away; however, if you don't set the stakes in cement, you should be able to easily pull them up and move the greenhouse to another location or pack it away in storage, as needed.

Greenhouse gardening in the fall brings special challenges, because you are preparing for the oncoming cold weather of winter. In climates that see a lot of snow and cold temperatures in the winter, a portable greenhouse won't cut it for overwintering plants. If you're looking for a way to keep your plants alive all winter long, you'll probably have to invest in a permanent structure. There are many types of hobby greenhouse kits available through mail order catalogs and specialty online stores. If you will be overwintering plants in the structure, be sure to consider an appropriate heat source. A basic structure with polycarbonate panels will not stay warm enough in temperatures below 30 degrees to keep tropical plants alive all winter, unless you provide some type of heat source.

Indoor greenhouses are another good option, particularly for gardeners who won't have a lot of outdoor space. Indoor greenhouses can be freestanding shelf units that stand in the corner of a room or small tabletop units that occupy a shelf or workbench. The primary difference between indoor and outdoor greenhouses is that with an indoor unit, you will need to provide some type of artificial light for your plants. Before choosing the type of light, first evaluate the temperature in the room. Is it warm enough for your plants? If the temperature is below 75 degrees, you should probably consider buying a fixture that will supply both light and heat. Take extra precautions with heat lamps. You never want to set a heat lamp too close to anything flammable, including the cover on your indoor greenhouse. If you don't need supplemental heat, the best option is to buy a fluorescent light fixture and then select full spectrum fluorescent bulbs for it.

As you can see, fall greenhouse gardening can take on many forms, depending on the type of greenhouse you select. The greenhouse that is right for you will depend on a number of factors, including how long you want to keep tending your plants and how much space you have to dedicate to a greenhouse. No matter what your choice, greenhouses are a great option in the fall for gardeners who want to extend their hobby and maintain their plants through the winter months.

Luxury Outdoor Propane Patio Heaters

Choosing a patio heater is not as daunting a task as one might imagine. Yes the choices are vast, but generally I recommend a starting point...choosing an energy source. Will you rather opt for an electrical, gas or propane patio heater? Picking any type, narrows your choices significantly and makes it less difficult to choose the perfect heater for your patio.

Whilst each of these heater types has many benefits as well as some drawbacks, it often happens that your choice comes down to decorative attributes as opposed to anything else. Although this is true, let's look briefly at some of the pro's and cons of propane patio heaters.

Drawbacks of propane patio heaters

Most homeowners will agree that perhaps the biggest disadvantage of owning and maintaining an outdoor propane patio heater is the continuous refilling of the tank. The frequency depends of course entirely on the amount of times that you use the heater, so be prepared for this duty if you decide to go for a propane heater. The worst scenario off course is if your cylinder runs empty in the middle of a party with friends. See your patio empty just as quickly as your heater's tank did!

There is of course a way to counter this problem. If you 'have a little room' in your budget you may wish to consider installing propane lines to your house (and more specifically) your outdoor area. This is an expensive solution to the problem however, and perhaps not worthwhile pursuing for moist.

A More obscure drawback to outdoor propane patio heaters is the risk that comes with the live burning flame. Admittedly this is one of the charms of owning a heater of this kind, but the reality remains that it does pose a risk if one is not careful. The best way to deal with this is logical common sense. Keep the heater away from potential flammable areas and keep it away from children playing in the area.

With any number of drawbacks, there is of course an abundance of advantages of owning a propane patio heater. This heater type is actually an inexpensive heating source - a good point to keep in mind if you're on a budget. Depending on which area you live in, propane may also be a more accessible as an energy source. Outdoor propane patio heaters are also more movable than other heater types which make it a great tool in your decorative efforts.

All of the above reason is dwarfed off course by the main reason someone would rather opt for a propane heater. Propane heaters are known for its heating abilities. It can easily warm up an entire large outdoor area in a matter of minutes and warm your guests for a whole night of partying.

Beautiful Garden Water Fountains

Gardens can be the most serene and stunning places on the whole earth. The striking blooming flowers, the bright green grass, and all the graceful pathways that lead to other fruits and vegetables can be one of the greatest delights. If you have a garden, you can certainly enhance its overall beauty by inserting a special garden fountain within it. A garden fountain comes in many styles and elegant shapes that is sure to complement your garden.

A garden water fountain is peaceful and appears to be something that is life giving and soothing and it will perfectly add to the beauty of a garden. Custom designed garden fountains come in almost every size, shape, and style and you can find one that has the elegant ancient designs that the Greeks employed in their artwork, or even a more modern and sleek version that would better complement your modern house, if you wish. Feel free to further decorate them with vases and flower pots, too, to give them a more elegant and natural feel.

Garden water fountains are pleasing additions to a garden as they only add to the beauty and grace of a garden that is already flowering with loveliness and life. Often these are bowl shaped and run water through some natural looking spouts and vases that might resemble the pots you might already have around the garden at times. These pots and things can be excellent additions to a garden as they surround the base of a garden fountain and can make for a more natural and exotic appearance. Garden water fountains can be just the thing to bring a focal point to all the lovely nature that is surrounding it. The garden fountains can be made of many materials, stone, marble, metals, and other kinds that you can customize and choose for the style and theme of your garden.

Beautiful Michelle Obama and Gardening

This past week I was amazed to see in the Dallas newspaper that Michelle Obama is going to plant a vegetable garden and some herbs. Two thumbs up for her. I was also thrilled to see on TV that the fifth grade class was able to get involved in the planting of this garden. I only now hope that they will continue to oversee the watering, weeding and growth of the garden. This is great for Michelle and stress relief with her busy schedule. For a child it’s educational. There is nothing like watching plants or seeds that you planted grow. (It is more fun for the children while waiting for that first vegetable to grow , they see a small vegetable and then you keep telling them it’s not ready to pick yet.) They are so excited that when the vegetable is ready to pick that they will actually eat the vegetables.

I brought my children up with small vegetable gardens and mostly grown in pots. You will get the same reaction whether the vegetables are in a pot or the ground. I am also so excited that she is bringing up her girls to eat healthy. These days it is so important for the health and well being of our children. Obesity is rampant and there are individuals such as myself that want to change things.

Just imagine if everyone started to grow at least one vegetable in a pot or in a small portion in their yard and then shared vegetables with their neighbors. Or even better yet get schools involved (some are already doing this) taking a small portion of the school yard and planting small gardens and each class taking a turn once a week to weed and water. When the vegetables are grown, because the children have had hands on, they are more apt to at least try if not enjoy what they grew.

Just remember all of you gardeners out there or those who want to start planting don’t forget to stretch afterwards. Gardening is actually working your muscles and that is a good form of exercise, so if you do not stretch afterwards there is a good chance that you will wake up sore and tender the next morning. We all have good intensions but muscles do tighten when they are put to work and they do need to be re -elongated to avoid soreness.

Best of Bring Science into Your Next Big Backyard Adventure

Exploring your backyard is not only a fun activity, but it can also educational. There are a large number of living, breathing creatures that can be found outdoors. All children love exploring nature, but there are some who may enjoy this exploration more than others. Those children are likely to be toddlers or elementary school aged children. Since young children may need your assistance, you will want to pick backyard activities that you will also enjoy doing.

One of the many ways that you can incorporate science into your backyard is by studying the plants that can be found in your yard. While all backyards are likely to have a number of different plants or flowers, yours may have more. For the best type of environment, you are encouraged to explore the wilder areas of your yard that have yet to be mowed or cleared.

Your backyard is also likely full of a number of different insects. Like plants and flowers, your child may enjoy examining these bugs. It is not only fun to see what bugs live in your backyard, but it is also exciting to learn about how they survive and what they eat. There is also a good chance that your children may leave your yard with a new pet.

In addition to the living things that can be found in your backyard, you and your child may also want to examine the weather and the impact it has on the yard and everything inside of if. Backyard conditions change as the weather changes. By examining your backyard after a rainy day, your child may find that many of the plants, flowers, and bugs have either changed or retreated to safer grounds. Examining the effect the weather has on the things in your backyard is not only fun, but educational.

To make the most out of your child’s next backyard adventure, you may want to consider purchasing them some science supplies. These supplies may include, but should not be limited to containers, butterfly catching nets, magnifying glasses, picture books, and resource guides. If your child is planning on capturing a few insects, a small cage or breathable container may be just what they need. These supplies, along with others, can be purchased from most retail stores. These stores may include department stores, home improvement stores, and toy stores.

To keep your exploration focused on education, science books and nature resource guides may be a nice addition to your child’s science collection. Many books and resource guide have a focus on insects, birds, plants, and flowers. Many of these resources will provide you with information and pictures, from which you and your child can more easily identify the things you find. For a large selection of science and nature books, you are encouraged to shop online, for instance at Amazon, or visit your local book store.

When examining the plants, bugs, and flowers in your backyard, you and your child may want to document what you see. This can easily be done with a notebook or a camera. By taking pictures, your child will always be able to remember their exploration adventures. Those pictures could also be used for other crafts. Scrapbooks and collages are a great way to turn traditional photographs into something much more.

Whether your child plans on exploring your backyard or they do so without intending to, it is likely that they will interested with what they see and learn. Incorporating science into your next backyard adventure is just one of the many things that you and your child can do outdoors; however, it may be the most beneficial.

Unique Closet Design Ideas for Your Home

When looking at a home to purchase, prospective homeowners are almost always interested in the amount of closet space. Walk-in closets have become the norm and more popular in recent years. It is possible to use some choices from the many closet design ideas to take advantage of space in more efficient ways. Here are a few ideas to consider when designing a closet for your home.

The purpose of a closet is a major thing to consider when planning. If the closet is in a bedroom, it will look different than a coat closet in a foyer or a linen closet for storing bath towels and bedding. Even a bedroom closet design will vary according to the age and style of a person using the closet. For example, lots of hanging space would be unnecessary for an individual who usually wears jeans and a tank top.

It is possible to go too far in the other direction, though. Design of closets should allow for some changes in the function and age level of an individual using it. The individual who now wears jeans and tank tops may eventually become more interested in clothing that should be placed on hangers.

Design a closet so that it is usable. While it is important to make the best use of space, if you can't reach often used items because they are placed in bins or on shelves above hanging racks, the use of the closet space is less efficient. Not everything can be at eye level, but the design should be cognizant of the number and type of items that are often used.

If you need additional closet design ideas, check the Internet. Use the interactive design tools available to experiment with your ideas. You should also begin with a clear idea of the items that will be placed in the closet.

New Home Automation Ideas

Home automation can encompass a variety of advanced features that you can add to your home. It can range from controlling the sound system throughout your entire home to controlling the electric blinds for every window. The ability to control or automate all the systems that make your house run can make your life easier. Home automation in Florida or any other location is a great idea for any homeowner.

Advanced Heating and Cooling
Imagine the ability to control heating beyond a simple thermostat. What if you could control the temperature of your home room by room? You might prefer a cooler temperature in your home office than in your bedroom.

Lighting Control
Many homes may have basic lighting controls for outdoor lights. Imagine the ability to adjust lighting anywhere in your home from a remote. Do you dread having to get out of bed and checking to make sure that all the lights have been shut off? You could easily grab your remote and turn off the light in the garage or the basement with a touch of the button. Lighting control could also save you money. You could consider motion sensors or timers for lighting in rooms that are not used as often and lights may be left on. You could control all the lighting from one source.

Electronics
It can be beneficial to control electronics or appliances in your home. An automated sound system would allow you to control the sound throughout your home. You could also contact anyone throughout your home with an intercom system. Imagine setting your blinds to automatically close at certain hours or depending on the light conditions.

You may rely on different automation depending on where you live. Home automation in Florida may differ from home automation needs in other areas. Automating your home for weather conditions or to harness natural power sources are all possibilities that can make your home easier to maintain, regardless of where you live. Whether you are planning on adding a home theatre or full scale home automation, the possibilities are endless and only limited by the technology available.

Luxury New Windows for Your House

Windows have become a very important part of your interior settings, and unlike the past, have developed a market for themselves. They no longer are seen as an addition to doors, since doors have always fascinated home buyers, who look for different aesthetically attractive and novel designs on doors. Windows have also started creating a similar market, with designs and styles that range from the ordinary to the highly stylish, adorning homes, and thereby making it more appealing.

Different window manufactures both from within the country as well as imported products; compete for the attention of a home buyer. Catalogues are abound with designs, and these windows are being made of different materials as well. Metal windows, windows made of wood as well as fiber loaded windows are available in the market. In fact, some companies have started marketing their products using the tag line of eco-friendly products, and energy efficient as well, and claim to help you get energy tax credits; thereby helping you save on energy bills as well as tax bill. When you think about having new windows for your home, as a replacement or for a new house that you are constructing, the different ideas that normally come to your mind are either metal ones or wooden ones. Both have its advantages as well as disadvantages.

While metal windows are more or less safe from weather conditions and do not have to be treated differently to protect from the weather, they tend to look a bit industrial in appearance. They are more suited for offices or factories and tend to look less appealing. Wooden windows on the other hand, are very appealing in nature, and if you opt for a paint finish that shall compliment that wood polish look, the entire interior could look really attractive and aesthetically beautiful. Add to it some fine drapes, and you have a perfect setting. The biggest disadvantage as far as wooden windows are concerned is that they are to be protected from the vagaries of weather, be it too much of rain or too much of sunshine. Also, they tend to more expensive that metal windows as the woodwork that is involved in certain windows cannot be easily done by machines and hence requires expert hand work. This makes it very expensive.

While wooden windows are differentiated by way of designs made on them, metal windows are segregated depending upon the style. Some very common styles are Casement windows, awning windows, double hung or gliding windows, bay windows, picture windows or specialty windows. Of these gliding windows are the most common due to the ease of operation as well as space utility. Casement windows tend to need more space for operation while bay windows are not that easy to maintain, though they do look very majestic and give a great view.

Lovely How Provide the Best Care for Your Koi Fish and Pond

As any serious Koi keeper knows, care for Koi is not as simple as purchasing goldfish from a pet store and dumping them in a fish tank.

First of all, that fish tank should be a pond with enough room for Koi to grow in. The minimum recommended stocking rate for any Koi pond is one Koi per 250 gallons of water. However, for those who wish to care for Koi, particularly to ensure their proper body formation and maximum size potential, twice the amount of water per Koi is recommended.

As mentioned in a previous article, it is better to care for more Koi than less as the fish are "happier" in a populous environment. This of course, would require increasing your pond volume.

Depending on where in the world one resides, it is good to keep in mind that Koi construction should keep out predators such as birds and mammals. Shaded trees are thus a good idea to block the view of aerial predators. To keep water clean of leaves and debris, stringing nets or wires above the surface is also important. This is because care for Koi begins with care for its pond water.

Koi can thrive in water temperatures of 15-25 degrees C (59-77 degrees F). The optimal temperatures however are at 23-30 degrees C (73.4-86 degrees F).

Pond water should be cycled once an hour for filtration. It should maintain a pH level of 6.5-9 and measured to keep a 5% salinity at all times. It should be free of waste material and be non-chlorinated. Keeping low ammonia levels (due to fish waste) is also necessary for to care for Koi. An ammonia measurement of one part per million is considered harmful for the fish.

One of many environmental problems which arise in the care for Koi is that of green water caused by algal blooms. The nitrogen wastes and other chemicals in the pond nourish the growth of algae and cause the pond to darken or become green. This is not only toxic for the fish but for humans as well. Hence it is best to regularly test the water for chemicals and install proper mechanical and biological filtration and pump systems.

Care for Koi also includes a healthy Koi diet. Koi have evolved to be omnivorous fish with a high tendency towards the consumption of benthic organisms, such as water insects, worms, larvae and even Molluscs. Koi are also stimulated by the variety of eating fruit, shrimp or fish every so often.

Keeping this in mind, however, there are commercial Koi foods that come in pellets or rods for Koi to chew that make guesswork easy. Koi are known to eat more than necessary for their proper growth so feeding must be controlled. More food also means, more waste in the water. It is better to feed the Koi in short spurts several times a day than to give them one large feeding. For aesthetic purposes and in order to give Koi a physical check-up, it would be good to choose food that floats. When the fish come up to feed at the surface it is much easier to check them then for parasites and ulcers.

In countries where the weather above water drops below 10 degrees C (50 degrees F), it is advisable to slow down the feeding and eliminate protein from their diets. This is because their bodies cannot process food as much or as fast as in the warmth.

Care for Koi may initially seem a complicated task for first-time Koi owners. However, its rewards are found in nurturing the healthiest and happiest of these beautiful ornamental fish!

Luxury Fountains for Commercial Use

There are many fountains that are built specifically with a business in mind. Whether it is a hotel or a bank or a large international office structure with many kinds of businesses, a fountain can be the thing to unite the entire establishment. Even airports can benefit from fountains, as airports are places where visitors come from all over the world and deserve to be stunned with spectacular representations of the city.

Fountains are as flexible and varied as they amount of diverse businesses in the world and it is easy to choose one that will match the needs and styles of your business with ease. If you want a professional sort of fountain, there are ones that are traditional and can be erected outside the building in a rectangular shape or in a shape that is round and more traditional, like a bowl. They can be tiered fountains that have levels and can be constructed out of metal or marble or other kinds of stones, depending on the style of the building.

If you visit an art museum, often a steel, abstract sort of fountain is a good thing to keep outside, one with lots of geometric shapes and sculpture like designs, maybe a large ball of yarn made of steel held up by metal pillars. Or if you put a fountain outside of an architecture building, you would want it to look professional and reflective of lines, shapes, and measurements.

Water Fountain in businesses can be even more creative when placed indoors. These ones can be placed on the stairwell or beside the elevators and can be built into the walls, if chosen. See through walls will form borders all around the walls and through them water will rush and stream, creating an amazing effect of waterfalls, visually and audio visually as well.

Awesome Sump Pump Pits

Sump pumps are important. They keep your basement from overflowing and flooding causing worse damage. They have other important functions such as draining groundwater from the basement, including from under and around the basement. By keeping the basement floor dry, there is no opportunity for mildew to grow and keeps the ground of the basement from cracking and keeps it less humid.

To dig a hole for a sump pump pit isn't that difficult, but does require some smart planning and good preparation to make sure it is done right. The location you choose for a sump pump pit is important. One of the things to keep in mind is the sump pump pit should be in an area that is common for flooding. The lowest part of the basement is where the sump pump pit should be installed. The water that is to be bailed from the pump needs to travel outdoors at least ten feet in distance. So it is very important to put the sump pump pit near a wall when being installed in a basement. Keep the pump at a distance from at least 8 inches from the basement structural wall and away from footings. Make sure that the drainage is flowing away from the septic system or the sewer. By allowing this to happen will be against the law. Make plans for the location before doing anything else to avoid difficulty later.

The size of the hole for the pump should be at least 2 inches in diameter and approximately 2 feet deep. This will allow ample space for pipes and water storage. For the size of pump you need isn't that important as how much horsepower you will need for the size of the house. How much water that will accumulate estimates the amount of horsepower needed.

The consistency of the soil needs to be taken in for account of where would be the best place to put the sump pump pit. Many places in the United States, the soil has traces of clay. Clay makes it difficult for drainage of water from the sump pump. Clay also has a tendency to expand which is not ideal for the drainage of the pump. Try to locate a place where the soil has a sandy type of consistency for the drainage to be easier. Placing the pump in a place for easier access is also important. So if repair needs to be done later, it will be easier to get to the pump for repairs it needs and also for maintenance.

Luxury Chicken Coops and Space for Your Chickens

Chickens need to have their own space and the in the chicken coops no exception. Chickens outdoors need at least 2 square feet and it is really important that you pay attention to this as chickens can become unsettles if they are overcrowded and pecking may occur. If pecking occurs birds can quickly lose their feathers and this in extreme cases can be fatal, it can also cause hens to stop laying and become isolated from the flock.

Chicken coops also need to be spacious and big enough to house the amount of chickens you are going to keep.  Chickens as a rule need about 2-3 square feet inside the coop and it is always a good idea to add perches to enable your chickens to roost if they want to. If you are planning on keeping quite a few chickens and your coop is small, you will need either to purchase a larger one or add an additional coop. Adding an additional coop is always a good idea as smaller coops will maintain their heat in the winter months and the bedding will remain dry and clean for longer. Bedding needs to be changed about once a week but if you have a lot of chickens you will find the bedding becoming very wet and dirty before 1 week. This can have health concerns for your chickens because a wet bed can give off a harmful substance that can be breathed into the chicken's lungs.  Wet beds will also cause the wood in the coop to become very wet and this can cause rotting in the coop, in the winter months bedding will then be very wet and cold which isn't good for the chickens.

It is always better to raise chicken coops off the ground if possible, this stops the wet and damp in the winter months seeping into the coop and also acts as a shelter when it is windy and rainy. Locating your coop in a well drained area is also a must in order to keep it dry in the winter months, many people choose to move their coops around in the winter months to drier ground and if your coop is small enough, this is always a good idea.

In the summer months treatment of coops may be necessary, especially if your chickens have suffered mites or lice but many coops will require treatment in order to keep the wood in good working order.

Awesome Closet Design in New Homes

Incorporating ample closets and storage space into your new house design can be a struggle. How much square footage should you devote to closet space or general storage? There is no easy answer to that questions but it is always best to err on the side of caution and add slightly more storage space then you think might be necessary. I have never heard of anyone complaining about having too much closet space but I have heard plenty of clients complain about having too little closet space.

There isn't much glory in closet space or storage solutions but the lack of proper closet space will definitely hamper the appearance and functionality of your home. Having functional and ample closets allows you strike a good balance between the living and non-living spaces in your home in a way that compliments each other.

These days, closet design has become a significant industry. There are numerous companies that have developed specialized storage systems for your closets. There are closet design consultants that will come to your home to provide help and advise on getting more out of your closet. Having a properly arranged closet keeps the clutter out of your living spaces and allows you to better organize your life.

Closets come in all different shapes and sizes. In deciding upon closet design, first figure out whether you would like a walk in closet of a reach in closet. Strictly speaking about storage, walk in closets are always better but often allowable space and cost constraints won't allow for a walk in closet.

In the event that you decide that a walk-in is not essential or too expensive, a reach in closet will be the next best choice. Reach in closets, once properly designed, can be very functional but always remember, the smaller the closet the more important a specialized design becomes. The closet opening is important as is the depth. Having extra depth in a reach in closet is generally a waste of space. It is better that reach in closets be wide and shallow rather than narrow and deep.

Regardless of the size of your closet you will want to make certain that there is enough light in the closet. This may require adding a light fixture inside of the closet. An extra deep closet or a walk in closet will most definitely need it's own light source. Make sure the light source is not blocked by your body as you look into or reach into the closet.

The final thing to consider when designing your closets for your new home is the closet infrastructure, What types of shelving, hooks, hanging rods or storage compartments will you need? There are many pre-fab storage systems that are available on the market these days. Do your research and think about what the contents of the closet might be. With a little luck you should be able to find a reasonably priced system that fits your closet perfectly.

Properly designed closets make life better. I think that good closet design and sufficient storage solutions are the unsung heros in any home. Put some time and effort into designing your new closets storage solutions and you will be handsomely rewarded.
